1. Who we are
ReMotivator (“we”, “us”) is a trading name of Escape Games LLC, registered in the United States, with its registered address at 2300 Wisconsin Ave NW #200b, Washington, DC 20007. You can reach us at info@re-motivator.com.
“You” means the company, organisation or person who books an event (the organiser) and, where we say so, everyone who plays in it (the players).
Our services are meant for businesses and organisations booking events for their teams. If you book as a consumer, you keep every right the law of your country gives you that can't be excluded; nothing in these terms takes those rights away.
2. What we offer
- Story games: 45-minute multiplayer 3D escape games played in the browser, in your company's logo and colours where the game supports branding, sold as Self-play, Guided (with a live host) or Custom.
- Trivia Night: a live quiz show for your whole company, Self-hosted (the automatic host) or Hosted (a game master from our team), with a ready quiz pack or custom questions.
- Classic 360° escape rooms: our original escape rooms filmed in 360°, played on your video call, with a host or, when offered online, self-play.
- Free demos: a short taste game in a company's brand, gift demos made for another company, and the free month.
- Partner programs for event agencies and referral partners (see Agencies and partners).
What each plan includes is described on the pricing page, the Trivia Night page and each game's page when you book. Those descriptions are part of your booking.
3. No account needed
You don't need an account to book or play. After paying you get private links: your booking page, the organiser page, the laptop check, and a game link for each team (or one player link for everyone at a Trivia Night).
Anyone who has a link can use it. Share team links only with your players, keep the booking and organiser pages to the people who run the event, and never post the links publicly. If a link gets out, tell us and we will help.
4. Booking and paying
Self-play and Guided story games, Trivia Night and, when offered, classic self-play can be booked online. Custom story games and larger or special events are booked through a quote or a call: the written quote we send you then sets the price and what's included, and these terms apply to it unless the quote says otherwise.
Prices are per person, with a minimum price per event, as shown on the pricing page and the Trivia Night page when you book; a small group pays the minimum. Custom questions for a Trivia Night are a fixed fee per event on top of either plan. Discount codes are applied at checkout only, one per order, and have no cash value.
You pay in full when you book, on a secure checkout page run by our payment provider, Stripe. We never see or store your full card details. Your booking is confirmed once the payment succeeds: you then get your booking page, and a receipt by email.
Prices are in US dollars. Unless the checkout shows tax as a separate line, the price shown is the total we charge. Any taxes, duties, bank or currency fees on your side are yours. Need an invoice with your company details? Ask us at info@re-motivator.com.
5. What the price includes
- Self-play (story game): the game for the people and teams you booked, a link for each team, your branding in the game where it supports branding, the organiser page (start all, live leaderboard, results), the laptop check, and support by email. Your teams play without a host.
- Guided (story game): everything in Self-play, plus a live host from our team for your event: a briefing, help during the game, and a debrief with rankings and awards.
- Custom (story game): a game adapted to your company as agreed in your quote, such as custom flows, settings and company stories written into the scenario.
- Trivia Night, Self-hosted: the automatic host, a ready quiz pack, your company's name, logo and colours on the show, one player link for everyone, and the organiser page.
- Trivia Night, Hosted: a game master from our team who opens, runs and closes a 45–60 minute show, with your branding.
- Custom questions (either Trivia Night plan): a quiz on your theme, or written from material you give us, sent to you to review before the event.
- Classic self-play: an access code for each team for the classic you chose, and your branding if you added it.
Not included unless we agree it in writing: your video-call service (Zoom, Meet or Teams, if you use one), prizes, extra hosts, or changes to a game beyond what your plan describes.
6. Dates, times and notice
When you book you choose the date, the start time and the time zone. We show every time in the time zone you chose: please check it, especially for teams in several countries and around clock changes.
- Self-play story games and Self-hosted Trivia Night: any start time in the future.
- Guided games and Hosted Trivia Night: at least 72 hours ahead, so we can prepare your host.
- Trivia Night with custom questions: at least 7 days ahead, so we can write the questions and you can review them.
- Any booking: up to 365 days ahead.
Self-play story games and Self-hosted Trivia Night with a ready pack are set up automatically: your links arrive right after payment. Guided, Hosted and custom bookings are reviewed by our team, and we confirm them within one working day. If we can't run a booking at the time you chose, we offer you another time; if none suits you, we refund you in full.
7. Changing your booking
On your booking page you can rename teams until 30 minutes before the start and, if you chose “Choose later”, pick your game. For anything else (a new date or time, more or fewer people or teams, another game or plan), write to us at info@re-motivator.com as early as you can.
- Moving the date. You can move your event once, free of charge, if you ask at least 48 hours before the original start. The new time must meet the notice rules above. Later or further moves are up to us, and we will always try to help.
- More people. You can add people before the event at the same per-person price, subject to availability; we send you a payment link or an invoice for the difference.
- Fewer people. If your head count drops 7 days or more before the start, we refund the difference, down to your plan's minimum price. Later reductions aren't refunded, but please still tell us so we set up the right number of teams.
When we change a booking, the team links you already have keep working; new links are made only for new teams.
8. Cancellations and refunds
If you cancel, your refund depends on how long before the booked start time your email reaches us at info@re-motivator.com:
- 7 days or more before the start: a full refund.
- Less than 7 days but at least 72 hours before the start: a 50% refund, or, if you prefer, move the event instead (one free move, as above).
- Less than 72 hours before the start, or if nobody turns up: no refund. We will still try to offer you another date.
Custom work. The custom questions fee is refunded in full only if you cancel 7 days or more before the start; after that the questions are already being written. For Custom story games, the cancellation terms in your quote apply.
Games already played. A game played for real after doors open isn't refunded. Test runs before doors open don't count as play.
Classic self-play. A full refund within 14 days of buying, as long as none of your team codes has been used.
If we cancel, or something fails on our side. If we have to cancel, or a problem on our side (our servers, our game or our host) stops your event from running properly, you choose: we run it again, at no cost, at a time that suits you, or we refund you in full (or in part, if only part of the event was affected and you prefer that). Problems on your side, such as a blocked company network, an unsupported device or a video call that fails, aren't a failure of ours, but we will always help on the day.
How refunds are paid. To the card or payment method you used, through Stripe, usually within 5–10 business days after we confirm the refund. We keep no fee beyond what this section says. Nothing here limits a refund the law requires.
9. What you need to play
- A recent Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox on a computer (best) or a phone, and a stable internet connection. Nothing to install.
- A microphone and a camera are optional: players talk on the game's built-in voice and video, or on your own Zoom, Meet or Teams call.
- Run the laptop check (linked from your booking page) a few days before the event, on the computers and networks your players will use.
Company VPNs and firewalls can block games. Checking early, and asking your IT team to allow our addresses if needed, is up to you; we are happy to help. We can't guarantee that a game runs on every device or network, especially on old computers without graphics support or on locked-down company networks.
10. Test runs and doors open
Your links work from the moment you get them, so you can try them out. Until doors open, 30 minutes before the start time, everything is a test run: the game says so on screen, and a game started or played during the test run is reset to fresh when doors open. Play after doors open is never reset by itself. If a game needs a fresh start after that, the organiser page has a Reset to fresh button.
11. How long links work
- Story game and Trivia Night links work until 30 days after the event, then expire.
- Classic self-play codes expire if unused 90 days after purchase; once a team starts, its code keeps working for a few hours so players can rejoin.
- Free demo links work for a few hours; a free month for 30 days.
Don't share links publicly or sell them on. We may switch off a link that is being misused.
12. How players behave
Our games include live voice and video between players. As the organiser, you make sure your players know these rules; everyone who plays agrees to them:
- Be respectful: no harassment, hate speech, threats, bullying or sexual content, in voice, video, chat, answers or names.
- No offensive or misleading player, team or company names, and no pretending to be someone else.
- Don't record, screenshot or share other players' voice or video without their consent (team photos: see Team photos and highlight videos).
- Don't try to break, overload, copy or get around the limits of our games, websites or links, or run bots or scrapers on them.
- Don't use our services for anything unlawful, or to send spam or harmful links.
We, or your host, may mute or remove a player, or end a game, if these rules are broken. We don't control what players say or show to each other, but tell us about anything serious and we will act on it.
13. Your content and your brand
To make your game you may give us, or let us take from your website, your company's name, logo, colours, values and tagline, team names and notes and, for custom questions or a custom game, company material such as documents, facts and stories (“your content”). Players also add content while they play, such as names, answers and photos.
You keep all rights in your content. You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, copy, adapt and show it only to make, run and support your games and events (your team report and highlight video included), and to keep it as long as we need for that, as our privacy note describes. We won't reuse questions or puzzles built from your company material for anyone else.
We won't use your logo, your company's name, your branded game or your material in our marketing, case studies or client lists without your permission (an email is enough).
You confirm that you may use the logos, brand assets and material you give us or ask us to use, and that our using them to make your game breaks nobody's rights or confidentiality. Please don't send us personal data about individuals, or confidential information you can't share, for custom questions.
Branding. In our story games your company is always on the heroes' side, never the villain. We may decline to brand a game with a brand we don't think you are allowed to use, or with content that would be inappropriate.
14. Free demos, gifts and the free month
The free 5-minute taste, gift demos and the free month need no payment. They are offered as they are, may change or end at any time, and have limits (per visitor, per company and per day) to keep them fair.
A demo in a company's logo and colours is a preview made from public information on its website. It doesn't mean that company endorses us, or you. Make a demo or a gift only in good faith (for your own company, or one you want to show the game to), never to mislead, harass or impersonate. You send gift links yourself: we never email the recipient. Gift notes may not contain links, addresses or offensive content.
We may remove a demo or gift page, or block its use, if it is abused or if the company asks us to. Every gift and personal page has a remove link.
The free month lets a company's team play the short taste game in its own brand for 30 days, up to a limit; it isn't the full story game.
15. Our games and intellectual property
Our games, worlds, stories, puzzles, characters, music, voice recordings, software, websites and materials belong to us or our licensors. That includes what we make for you, such as a custom scenario or questions, apart from your content inside it.
When you book, you and your players get a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to play the booked game at your event, and to use your results, team report, team photos and highlight video for your own purposes, such as sharing them inside your company or on your own social channels (they may show our game).
Please don't copy our games, publish full walkthroughs or puzzle answers, resell our games or make games from them without our written permission.
If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them to improve our games, with no obligation to you.
16. Team photos, highlight videos and recordings
We don't record your players' voice or video.
During a game the organiser (or your host) can take team photos: each player's game sends a picture of their 3D view and, only if that player's camera is on or they choose to add it, one frame from their webcam. After the game the organiser can make a highlight video from the game, the team photos and the results.
Photos and highlight videos are shown only on your private organiser page, for you to download, and are deleted after 90 days. We don't use them in our marketing without your permission.
Please tell your players that team photos may be taken, and respect anyone who doesn't want to be in them: players can keep their cameras off.
We keep results and game statistics (time per puzzle, hints, answers; no photos) to improve our games.
17. Privacy
How we handle personal data is explained in our privacy note. When you give us players' names or email addresses, you confirm you may share them with us to run your event.
18. Booking through someone else
If you book through an event agency or another reseller, your contract, price, invoice, cancellations and support are with them. How players behave, content and intellectual property follow these terms.
19. Availability and changes to the games
We work hard to keep our games and websites running, but we can't promise they will always be available or free of errors. We do maintenance outside booked events whenever we can.
We improve our games over time, so the game you booked may be updated before your event (for example a new edition of the same story, of a similar length). If we retire a game you booked, we offer you another game or a full refund.
20. Our liability
We provide our services with reasonable care and skill.
Our total liability to you for anything to do with a booking is limited to the amount you paid for that booking. For free services, it is limited as far as the law allows.
We aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses (such as lost profits, business or data), or for failures caused by things outside our reasonable control, such as internet or power outages, failures of services we don't run (video-call platforms, your network) or natural disasters. If such an event stops your booked event, you can still choose a rerun or a refund as described under Cancellations and refunds.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn't allow to be limited, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
21. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms; this page always shows the current version and its effective date. A booking keeps the terms in force when it was paid, unless a change is required by law or is in your favour.
22. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the District of Columbia, United States, and the courts located in Washington, DC. If something goes wrong, please contact us first: most things are solved quickly by email. If we can't solve it together, those courts decide, without affecting any right you have as a consumer to bring a claim in your own country.
